👋 Your data, in plain words

Kindbite is a calorie and nutrition tracker that uses AI to help you log meals, estimate nutrition and reach your health goals. This policy lists everything we collect, where it is kept, why, who can see it, and how to download or delete it. If we collect it, it is listed here. The app has the same summary under Profile → Your data.

When you create an account and set up your profile:

• Name and email address, to create your account and personalise the app
• Age, sex, height, weight and goal weight, to calculate your calorie, protein, carb, fat and fibre targets
• Goal, activity level and whether you strength-train, to tailor those targets
• Diet preference (vegetarian, eggetarian or non-vegetarian), so suggestions fit how you eat
• Country, which you choose (we suggest your phone's region), to suggest foods and portions that are common where you live

• Meals: food names, portions, time, calories, protein, carbs, fat, fibre, sugar, sodium, and estimated vitamins and minerals
• Daily totals: calories and macros per day, water glasses, and workouts you log
• Weight entries and the dates of progress photos
• Craving coach: what you tell it you're craving and what you chose instead
• Account basics: your streak, the last day you used the app, the number of days you've used it, whether you have Pro, and any Pro gift we sent you
• Fasting schedule and reminder settings: stored only on your phone

If you choose to connect them, Kindbite reads your step count and active calories burned from Apple Health (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android). On Android this includes data that apps such as Fitbit, Google Fit and Samsung Health sync into Health Connect.

• The data is read on your phone to show today's activity and add those calories to your daily budget.
• It is never uploaded, stored on our servers, shared, sold, or used for advertising.
• We never write anything to Apple Health or Health Connect.
• Connecting is optional. Turn it off any time in the app, or in your phone's Health / Health Connect settings.

• Meal photos you take are sent to our AI to estimate nutrition, and a copy is saved to your account so the meal shows its picture on any device.
• Progress photos you add are kept on your phone and backed up to your account.
• Menu photos are sent to our AI for analysis and are not stored.
• Before upload, photos are resized and their location and camera details are removed. They are stored in Google Firebase Storage and only your account can access them. Photos saved by older versions of the app may be stored with Cloudinary; email us and we will delete them.

To estimate nutrition and run the coach, we send the AI only what it needs for that request:

• The meal photo, description or barcode result you are logging
• For the coach and insights: your profile, targets and recent meals
• The last few food ideas the coach gave you, so it suggests something different

Requests go through our own server to Anthropic (Claude). Older app versions may use xAI (Grok) for the coach. We do not log the content of your requests. Under their commercial terms these providers do not use your requests to train their models. We keep only the results you choose to save.

Meal predictions ("Quick add") are worked out on your phone from your own log: what you usually eat at this time and on this day, what you just logged, and what is left of your daily target. Nothing extra is sent anywhere for them.

When you say what you ate, your phone's built-in speech recognition (Apple or Google) turns it into text. We never receive or store the recording, only the text you log.

We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand which screens and features are used and whether AI requests succeed. It records app interactions, device type, operating system, app version and approximate country. It never receives your meals, names, photos or health data. You can turn analytics off in the app under Profile → Your data.

The free plan shows ads from Google AdMob. Pro has no ads. AdMob may collect:

• Your advertising ID: on iPhone only if you allow tracking; on Android according to your Android ad settings
• Ad interactions: which ads were shown or tapped
• Device information and IP address, which AdMob uses for approximate location, fraud prevention and measurement

The first time you open the app on iPhone or iPad, before any ads load, Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt asks whether Kindbite may track you. Everyone is asked, including Pro members (Pro shows no ads, so nothing is tracked for them either way). On the free plan you see the same number of ads whichever you choose.

• Payments are handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google Play. We never see or store card or bank details.
• We record whether you have Pro, which plan, and on which platform, to unlock Pro features.
• If we gift you Pro, we keep a record of the gift (your email or account ID, end date and an optional message).

To identify packaged food we send the barcode number to Open Food Facts. To show a picture of a dish we send the dish name to Wikipedia, Pixabay or TheMealDB. Nothing about you is included.

🛡️ What we never collect

• You. Other users can never see your account.
• The Kindbite team, only to give support, fix problems or gift you Pro, and never for anything else.
• The services listed below, which process data on our behalf and only for the purpose described.

• All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest by Google Firebase.
• Security rules make sure each account can only read and write its own data and photos.
• AI keys are kept on our server, never inside the app.
• Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication; we never see them.

We keep your data while you have an account. You can delete individual meals, photos, weights and cravings at any time.

• Access and export: everything is visible in the app, and you can download all of it
• Correct: edit your profile, meals and weights any time
• Delete: individual items or your whole account
• Object: turn off analytics, personalised ads (on iPhone) or health access
• Withdraw consent: change any permission in your phone's settings

Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or India), you may have further rights under local law. Email us and we will help.

Kindbite is not intended for children under 13 (under 16 in the European Union). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Calories, macros, vitamins and suggestions are AI estimates and can be wrong. Kindbite is not a medical device. Talk to a doctor or dietitian before making medical or major dietary decisions.

When this policy changes, we update the date at the top. For significant changes we will also let you know in the app or by email.
