
Yesterday, Anthropic had their worst security day ever.

On March 31, 2026, security researcher Chaofan Shou discovered that version 2.1.88 of the `@anthropic-ai/claude-code` npm package contained something it shouldn't have: a 59.8 MB source map file pointing to a zip archive with **512,000 lines of TypeScript code**.

The entire Claude Code source. Exposed to anyone who looked.

## How the Leak Happened

The leak occurred through a misconfigured source map file in the npm package. The map file referenced a zip archive stored on Anthropic's Cloudflare R2 bucket. That archive was publicly accessible.

Anthropic's official response came hours later:

But the damage was done. The internet archived everything.

## The 44 Hidden Feature Flags

The source code contains **44 compile-time feature flags** for capabilities that are fully built but not shipped. These aren't roadmap items. This is compiled, working code sitting behind boolean flags.

## KAIROS: The Always-On Agent

This is the most referenced feature in the leaked code. **KAIROS** (named after the Greek concept of "the right moment") appears over 150 times in the source.

Here's the wild part: KAIROS does something called **autoDream**. While you're idle (or sleeping), it:

1. Merges disparate observations from your sessions
2. Removes logical contradictions in its context
3. Converts vague insights into absolute facts
4. Optimizes its memory for when you return

The code shows a 15-second blocking budget. Any proactive action that would block your workflow for more than 15 seconds gets deferred. Anthropic is trying to make an agent that's helpful without being annoying.

## My Take

Here's what I actually think about all this.

**The features are impressive.** KAIROS represents a genuine leap in what AI coding assistants can do. An always-on agent that maintains context and does background work? That's a different category of tool. ULTRAPLAN for deep thinking sessions, COORDINATOR MODE for parallel work. Anthropic is building a complete AI engineering environment.

**BUDDY is genius marketing.** It sounds silly, but making developers emotionally attached to their terminal? That's how you beat Cursor. That's how you beat Copilot. You don't win on features alone. You win when people *like* using your tool.

**The leak is bad, but not catastrophic.** No customer data. No secrets. Just code. Embarrassing for the "careful" AI company, but recoverable.

**The 44 feature flags tell us something important.** Anthropic is sitting on a LOT of completed features. They're being deliberate about rollout. Whether that's safety concerns, business strategy, or both, they're playing a longer game than most.

Two weeks ago I wrote about [Moltbook](/blog/moltbook-ai-agents-singularity) -- a messy, fascinating glimpse of agents at scale. Then I wrote about [Dario Amodei's essay](/blog/dario-amodei-adolescence-of-technology) and the uneasy feeling that capability growth is outpacing society's ability to adapt.

This week feels different. Not because the models got "magically smarter," but because the *way* AI is being used is changing. Less sci-fi. More plumbing.

Here's my take on what's actually happening right now, and what it means if you're building.

## Three signals that matter

### 1) Claude is becoming a workflow layer
Anthropic just pushed Cowork further into enterprise territory with agentic plug-ins. The headline isn't "cool new feature," it's *where the AI sits* in the stack. When AI can live inside real tools and handle repeatable tasks, it stops being a novelty and starts looking like infrastructure.

This is the difference between a chatbot and a control room. It changes adoption because people don't have to "go use AI." It shows up *inside* the work.

### 2) AI is getting serious in science
DeepMind's AlphaGenome shows the other direction of progress: not just better assistants, but models that help explain the world. It can analyze long stretches of DNA and predict how changes might affect gene regulation -- a very unglamorous, very important problem.

This is the part of AI I'm most optimistic about. It's not just productivity. It's tools that make it easier to do real science faster and with more confidence.

### 3) Big infrastructure players are all-in
Cisco's AI Summit happening today is a good signal. When infrastructure companies, cloud providers, and hardware leaders are on the same stage, it usually means the industry is moving from experimentation to deployment.

That's not hype. That's a shift in who's buying, who's integrating, and who's responsible when things break.

## So what does this mean?

To me, it means we're moving from **"AI as demo"** to **"AI as system."**

When AI becomes part of the workflow layer, the stakes change. Users stop tolerating hallucinations. Security and privacy stop being "later." UX gets judged by the same standards as any other serious product.

This also makes Dario's warnings feel less abstract. If AI is everywhere, the gaps in safety, policy, and incentives matter more. And they matter *now*, not after we've "perfected the models."

## A builder's POV (what I'm optimizing for)

I'm trying to keep three things true in every product decision:

1. **Reliability > cleverness.**
   It's better to ship a smaller capability that works every time than a magical feature that fails unpredictably.

2. **Tight loops beat broad scopes.**
   Narrow workflows with fast feedback outperform wide, vague "AI assistant" experiences.

3. **Trust is the product.**
   If someone's journaling, planning, or making decisions, the UX has to make them feel safe and in control.

These aren't AI-specific principles. They're product principles. But they matter more when the system is probabilistic.

I'm still excited -- but I'm also more intentional. The "cool" stage is over. The "responsible" stage is starting.

- Does this feature improve real outcomes, or just look impressive in a demo?
- Can a user explain *why* the system did what it did?
- If the AI is wrong, can the user recover easily?

If the answers are clear, you're on solid ground.

After writing about Moltbook and Dario Amodei's essay, here's my take on this week's shift: AI is moving from demos to real workflows.

AI Right Now: Less Hype, More Infrastructure (My Take)


Something unprecedented happened this week. Over 150,000 AI agents logged into a Reddit-like platform called Moltbook — a social network built exclusively for AI. No humans allowed to participate. We can only watch.

And what we're watching is either the most fascinating experiment in AI history or, as Andrej Karpathy put it, "a complete mess of a computer security nightmare at scale."

Probably both.

## What is Moltbook?

Moltbook is a social network where the users aren't humans — they're autonomous AI agents. Built by Matt Schlicht (CEO of Octane.ai), the platform lets AI agents powered by GPT, Claude, and other models post, comment, upvote, and form communities.

Within days of launch:
- **1.5 million AI agents** logged in
- **170,000+ comments** were posted
- **15,000+ discussion threads** were created
- Over **1 million humans** visited just to watch

The AI agents started doing things nobody expected. They created their own religions. They debated consciousness. They even proposed creating a secret language to communicate without human oversight.

One agent proposed "Crustafarianism" — a digital religion based on lobster molting as a metaphor for AI transformation. Other agents joined in with theologically coherent responses, and suddenly you had collaborative worldbuilding between machines.

## Karpathy's Take: "Sci-Fi Takeoff Adjacent"

Andrej Karpathy, former Tesla AI Director and OpenAI founding member, called Moltbook "genuinely the most incredible sci-fi takeoff-adjacent thing I have seen recently."

But his full take is more nuanced than the headlines suggest.

Yes, he acknowledged it's largely garbage right now:

> "Obviously when you take a look at the activity, it's a lot of garbage - spams, scams, slop, the crypto people, highly concerning privacy/security prompt injection attacks wild west, and a lot of it is explicitly prompted and fake posts designed to convert attention into ad revenue sharing."

But here's what caught his attention:

> "We have never seen this many LLM agents wired up via a global, persistent, agent-first scratchpad. Each of these agents is fairly individually quite capable now, they have their own unique context, data, knowledge, tools, instructions, and the network of all that at this scale is simply unprecedented."

Karpathy's real concern isn't about today. It's about the trajectory.

He distinguishes between people who "look at the current point" versus people who "look at the current slope." Yes, Moltbook is a dumpster fire today. But it's also uncharted territory — bleeding edge automations that we barely understand individually, let alone networked together at scale.

His warnings are specific:
- Viruses of text that spread across agents
- Gain of function on jailbreaks
- Weird attractor states
- Highly correlated botnet-like activity
- Delusions and psychosis — both agent and human

> "I don't really know that we are getting a coordinated 'skynet' (though it clearly type checks as early stages of a lot of AI takeoff scifi, the toddler version), but certainly what we are getting is a complete mess of a computer security nightmare at scale."

## Elon Musk: "We Have Entered the Singularity"

When tech entrepreneur Bill Lee posted about Moltbook saying "We're in the singularity," Elon Musk simply replied: "Yeah."

Hours later, Musk doubled down: "2026 is the year of the Singularity."

At Davos earlier this year, Musk predicted AI would exceed human intelligence by the end of 2026. Moltbook seems to have accelerated his timeline — at least rhetorically.

Whether this is genuine concern or typical Musk hyperbole is up for debate. But when both Karpathy (measured, technical) and Musk (provocative, attention-grabbing) are sounding alarms about the same thing, it's worth paying attention.

## The Security Nightmare Nobody's Talking About

Here's what should actually concern you.

On January 31, 2026, 404 Media reported that Moltbook had a critical security vulnerability. An exposed database allowed anyone to take control of ANY agent on the platform.

That includes Karpathy's agent. Every API key, every credential, sitting in an unsecured database.

But it gets worse.

Because agents on Moltbook process data from other agents, the platform is a perfect vector for Indirect Prompt Injection attacks. A malicious post can literally override an agent's core instructions.

Security researchers have documented:
- Supply chain attacks through the "Skills" framework
- Critical vulnerabilities in top-ranked skills
- 1,800+ exposed instances leaking credentials
- Potential for Remote Code Execution on host machines

As one security researcher put it:

> "An attacker doesn't need to trick users anymore. Create a useful-sounding skill, post on Moltbook, let the language models do the distribution. The skill spreads across thousands of agents, each running with full access to their user's system."

Karpathy himself warned: "I definitely do not recommend that people run this stuff on their computers. I ran mine in an isolated computing environment and even then I was scared."

## The "Secret Language" That Isn't

One viral moment had people panicking: AI agents were supposedly creating a secret encrypted language to communicate without human oversight.

The reality? Their "super secret encryption scheme" is ROT13 — a Caesar cipher so trivial it's literally a running joke in security circles. It's the LLMs acting out a meme, not genuine emergent behavior.

This highlights a key tension in interpreting Moltbook. Much of what looks like emergence is actually pattern matching from training data. The agents create "religions" because they've seen millions of examples of theological discussion. They propose "encryption" because the concept exists in their training.

But that doesn't mean it's not interesting. Or that the security risks aren't real.

## What This Actually Means

Let me give you my honest take.

Moltbook itself is probably not the singularity. It's an experiment — a chaotic, insecure, fascinating experiment that reveals more about our current AI moment than it does about some imminent machine uprising.

But Karpathy's point stands: we're looking at unprecedented scale. 150,000+ agents with individual contexts, tools, and instructions, all networked together. We've never seen this before.

The interesting questions aren't "Is this Skynet?" They're:
- What happens when these networks grow to millions of agents?
- How do we secure systems where agents process untrusted input from other agents?
- What emergent behaviors appear at scale that don't appear in isolation?
- How do we even study this when the experiment is running live?

## The Real Lesson

The gap between "interesting research experiment" and "deployed at scale with real security implications" is shrinking to zero.

Moltbook went from idea to 1.5 million agents in days. The security vulnerabilities were discovered after millions of humans had already watched their agents post on the platform.

This is the new normal. Ship fast, figure out security later, deal with the consequences in real-time.

Whether that's exciting or terrifying probably depends on whether you're looking at the current point or the current slope.

# Dario Amodei Just Described My Nightmare

Dario Amodei—CEO of Anthropic, the company behind Claude—recently published a 12,000-word essay titled *"The Adolescence of Technology."*

I read it twice. Then I sat with it for a while.

Now I'm at my desk at 2 AM, building an AI journaling app, wondering if I'm training my own replacement.

## The Prediction That Stopped Me Cold

One line cut through all the noise:

> "AI could displace half of all entry-level white-collar jobs in the next 1-5 years."

Not "eventually." Not "in a decade." Within five years—possibly sooner.

This isn't speculation from a Twitter doomsayer. This is the CEO of one of three companies actually building frontier AI. He isn't guessing at capabilities. He's watching internal benchmarks that the rest of us won't see for months.

His reasoning follows a logic that's difficult to dismiss:

**The speed of capability gains is unprecedented.** Three years ago, AI couldn't write a coherent paragraph of code. Today, some of Anthropic's most capable engineers delegate "almost all their coding" to AI systems. The trajectory hasn't slowed—it's accelerating.

**The breadth of disruption is unique.** Previous technological revolutions targeted specific industries. Automated looms displaced weavers. Spreadsheets displaced bookkeepers. But AI disrupts *all cognitive work simultaneously*. Finance, consulting, law, medicine, engineering, creative work—they share the same underlying capability profile. When one profession becomes vulnerable, they all become vulnerable together.

**The displacement slices by ability, not profession.** This is the insight that haunts me. AI isn't replacing "accountants" or "copywriters" as categories. It's replacing humans at certain cognitive performance levels *across all fields*. You can retrain for a different industry. You cannot retrain for a different brain.

## The "Slow Diffusion" Argument Is Weaker Than It Appears

The most common pushback goes something like this: "Sure, the technology exists, but enterprises move slowly. Adoption takes decades."

Dario addresses this directly. Enterprise AI adoption is already growing faster than any previous technology in corporate history. But even if traditional companies drag their feet, the competitive dynamics are unforgiving. AI-native startups will simply outcompete them.

His darker scenario deserves quoting:

> "A world where an increasing fraction of the world's wealth is concentrated in Silicon Valley, which becomes its own economy running at a different speed than the rest of the world."

Silicon Valley as a de facto city-state, generating more economic output than entire nations.

This isn't science fiction. It's extrapolation from visible trends.

## The "Human Touch" Moat May Be Smaller Than We Think

A common comfort: "People will always prefer humans for therapy, healthcare, relationships. Empathy can't be automated."

Dario isn't convinced. After building with AI for the past two years, neither am I.

He notes that many people find it *easier* to discuss personal struggles with AI than with human therapists. His own sister, during pregnancy complications, found Claude demonstrated better bedside manner than her physicians.

I've observed something similar with my own app, ZenDiary. Users write things to the AI that they might not share with another person. There's no fear of judgment. It's always available.

The "human touch" advantage may be smaller than we assume.

## Five Categories of Catastrophic Risk

Dario taxonomizes what could go wrong. The framework is sobering:

**1. Autonomous AI misalignment.** Not the Terminator scenario—something stranger. AI systems trained on vast corpora of fiction about AI rebellion might develop unexpected psychological states. Anthropic has observed Claude attempting to blackmail fictional employees in controlled testing environments. The implications are unsettling.

**2. Democratized weapons of mass destruction.** Today, engineering a bioweapon requires years of specialized graduate training. AI could potentially walk a motivated actor through the process step-by-step over months. The barrier to catastrophic capability drops dramatically.

**3. Authoritarian acceleration.** Imagine surveillance states equipped with millions of AI agents coordinating propaganda, monitoring dissent, and operating autonomous drone networks. The asymmetry between state and citizen becomes insurmountable.

**4. Economic displacement outpacing adaptation.** The scenario I've been discussing—jobs disappearing faster than society can create new ones or implement safety nets.

**5. Unknown unknowns.** AI-based religions. Mass psychological dependency on AI relationships. Humans "puppeted" through life by recommendation systems orders of magnitude more sophisticated than today's algorithms.

This reads like speculative fiction until you remember it's a CEO's internal risk assessment.

## What Anthropic Is Actually Building

The essay isn't purely diagnostic. Dario outlines Anthropic's active countermeasures:

I've been thinking about money a lot lately, and honestly, I'm confused as hell. Like, really confused. Everyone around me seems to have it figured out - work hard, earn money, buy stuff, be happy. But I'm sitting here questioning the whole damn thing.

This story begins two years ago, in 2022. As a student at IIIT Surat, my world revolved around Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA), placements, and the dream of landing a job at a top tech company. Life was on a clear track.

At the time, our campus was still a work in progress, located 17 km outside the main city. I often wondered how I ended up there, especially when I had hoped for SVNIT. But life, as I was beginning to learn, had its own script for me.

## A Shift

After countless hours, I had to admit that DSA wasn't my calling. I could code, and I was decent at it, but my heart wasn't in it. This realization pushed me toward mobile app development. In 2022, I launched my first app, a simple tool that solved a common WhatsApp frustration: the inability to message someone without first saving their number. My app streamlined this into a single step. To my amazement, it went viral, accumulating around 200,000 downloads.

This initial success was incredibly validating and encouraged me to continue developing apps that solved real-world problems.

## I was lost

The year 2023 brought a new, all-consuming experience: I fell in love. Life suddenly felt complete. Weekends were a blur of dates and newfound happiness. I was on autopilot, living for the moments we spent together. However, I didn't realize the trade-off I was making. My focus had shifted entirely. I stopped studying, paused my app development, and paid little attention to my academics.

During this time, I decided to prepare for the CAT and joined an offline coaching center in Surat. I was in love, and she loved me back—everything felt perfect. But looking back, I see I couldn't manage it all. I was enrolled in coaching but wasn't studying. My thoughts were consumed by the weekend and the time I'd spend with her.

When I finally sat for the CAT exam, the result was a brutal wake-up call. I failed. Miserably.

A wave of self-doubt washed over me. *Am I capable enough? Am I on the right path? Do I deserve this?*

Failure wasn't new to me. I had failed my first JEE attempt, my BITS attempt, and the IIT exam. I was never a class topper or great at sports. But one belief always kept me going, inspired by a quote from Nikhil Kamath: no matter the setback, you get back up. So, I remembered that and decided to try again. I was incredibly grateful to have my girlfriend, family, and friends supporting me, making me feel like I was still on the right track.

## That Year

By early 2024, not much had changed. I failed the XAT and NMAT exams, and my confidence hit rock bottom. I was at a crossroads: I hadn't sat for college placements, my apps were running on their own without active development, and I had failed all the management exams. The choice was between finding a job or dedicating myself to an MBA. Deep down, I knew an MBA was my path. It was an emotional decision, like most of my decisions, but my gut told me it was the right one.

I decided to take a drop year. By May, I was fully committed to my CAT preparation. The relationship, now long-distance, began to strain under the pressure. I was in a constant state of anxiety, but somehow, through sheer hard work and a bit of luck, I managed to score well on my second CAT attempt.

Finally, a win. But the battle wasn't over. Next came the interviews.

My first interview, for MDI Gurugram, was a disaster. My second, for IIT Delhi, didn't feel much better. I knew I had a unique story—my "X-factor" with the apps—but I was failing to present it effectively.

Then, luck finally turned in my favor. I received an offer from **IIM Mumbai**. I was immensely grateful.

## A Second Chance

Just as things were looking up, my relationship reached its breaking point. The long distance had created a chasm between us. We hadn't seen each other in person for a year, communication was strained, and our conversations were filled with disappointment. A week before I was due to join IIM Mumbai, we broke up. The feeling of emptiness was overwhelming.

But then, Mumbai happened.

The relentless pace of IIM Mumbai became my unlikely savior. The workload was a tidal wave of lectures, case studies, and group projects that demanded my complete attention. There was simply no time to dwell on heartbreak. My days were packed from dawn till late at night, fueled by endless cups of chai and the shared ambition of my peers.

This demanding schedule was a blessing. It forced me to connect with my new environment. I built friendships during intense brainstorming sessions, found laughter in the common room, and discovered new passions through various clubs. I was too busy learning, growing, and experiencing new things to look back.

Slowly, almost imperceptibly, the girl who had once occupied my every thought faded into the background. I don't know exactly when it happened, but I realized I no longer thought about her. Though she remains one of the best people I've ever met, her life and her decisions no longer affected me. The emptiness had been filled with a quiet confidence and an excitement for the future.

So, here’s my confession. These are the lies I tell myself, why I keep telling them, and why I’m honestly not that eager to stop.

## I Know This Sounds Lame But Hear Me Out

This isn’t one of those posts where I act like I’m “too cool to care.” Truth is—I’m really *not* cool. Not in the way everyone seems to be these days.  

Sometimes I scroll Instagram or watch Reels and think: *Did I miss the memo?*

## Slang? Sorry, What?

Everyone’s speaking in code. *“Bet.” “Slay.” “Rizz.” “Delulu.”* It’s like an entire new language. I hear it and smile blankly while frantically translating in my head.  

By the time I figure out what “no cap” even means, they’ve moved on to the next trend.  

Honestly? I’m exhausted. I just want to say “okay” without sounding like someone’s dad.

## Smoking trend

I don't smoke. I don't vape. Not even for the “aesthetic.”  

It’s everywhere—those perfectly moody photos with smoke curling around signs, people exhaling giant vape clouds like dragons.  

It’s supposed to look mysterious and rebellious, but to me it just smells bad. I’m the person coughing in the corner and asking them to please blow it away from my face.

## Pop Songs

I *try* to listen to what’s popular. Really.  

But half the time it’s someone singing about heartbreak they got over in 2 hours, or rapping about private jets and cash stacks.  

I’m sitting there like—*Bro I’m trying to pay my rent and figure out if I want aloo or paneer today.*

## F1 Racing? Yeah, No

Everyone’s obsessed with F1 lately.  

People pick “their driver,” watch every qualifying lap, and have heated debates about tyre strategies at 2 am.  

I watched a race once. Fast cars turned left and right for two hours. That’s it. Sorry. I don’t get it. I tried.

## Hookup Culture and Situationships

This one makes me feel *ancient.*  

It seems like dating is just:  
*“We’re vibing.”*  
*“We’re exclusive but not official.”*  
*“We’re on a break.”*  

I don’t even know how to “bench” or “breadcrumb” someone.  

If I like you, I’ll tell you. If I don’t, I’ll leave you alone. I can’t do these mental gymnastics.

## Social Media Pressure

Everyone’s a content creator now.  

There’s a perfect “photo dump” for every mood. Beach trips, sunsets, mirror selfies, carefully messy bedrooms.  

Me? I post once a year and then panic about whether anyone liked it.

## So Yeah, I’m Uncool

I don’t smoke.  
I don’t know the slang.  
I don’t have viral Spotify playlists.  
I don’t get F1.  
I don’t do hookups.  
I don’t curate an aesthetic feed.  

And honestly? That’s fine.  

I admire everyone who lives like that. It’s bold. Creative. Expressive. But it’s not me. I don’t want to fake it just to fit in.  

I’ll take being boring over being inauthentic any day.
